Distilled Water or Demineralized water is technically the purest form of water (H2O), i.e. water without any added salts, minerals, or pathogens. However, unlike the USA and European countries, we do not have a separate segment of potable Distilled water available in stores fit for drinking.
Here are a few methods to determine if the water is in its purest form.
1) Buying from an authorized Pharma Grade Distilled Water Supplier in your City. We do have recommendations for certain cities. Please get in touch with us for the city-specific information.
2) Whenever you buy distilled water, pour some water into a clean cup (a paper cup also works). And smell it for odor. Distilled water is completely Odorless. Specifically, a grassy or pungent odor is an indication of algae/fungi or any other microbial growth. Important is to pour water into a clean cup to smell the odor as the outside of the water container/bottle may also have some odors, which may interfere.
3) Invest in a small water TDS meter (about Rs 200). This would come in handy for measuring the TDS of the distilled water. The TDS should be anything closer to 0 (Zero). Ideally, it would be Zero, but anything less than 10 TDS is good enough.
4) Check Visually for any suspended solids / fine particulate in the water. Insoluble material will not get detected in TDS.
5) Even after taking all precautions if you are still not convinced, boiling the water would take care of any pathogens if present. UV Treatment works equally good. In any case, we do not recommend adding any chemicals to water as it may alter the water profile.
